 NHS tutors available this week for any subject Monday- Thursday- please email Ryan Bergin or contact your guidance counselor so we can help to arrange this- tutors are available either in person or via facetime or Zoom-  

NHS students- please make sure you have started your tutoring- we will be having an NHS meeting next week and you will be asked to show your NHS tutoring hours as a check in-
thank you for your great work so far but we will be soon reaching the halfway mark and you should have a significant amount of hours started- Do not forget you need to do two Open Door visits- and you must have this arranged before hand with a permission slip from your parents

Holiday Ugly Sweaters- As we are approaching the holidays we will be having HOLIDAY UGLY SWEATER THURSDAYS !!  please show some holiday spirit by wearing an Ugly Sweater on Dec 3rd, Dec 10, Dec 17 and also Dec 22 Tuesday- Please take pictures of this so we can get them in the yearbook

speaking of yearbooks-  the deadline is approaching to get your reduced yearbook price- please go to Joslens.com to order your yearbook online-  Seniors please also get your pet pictures and baby pictures in asap

Italian Club- there is tutoring available for the Italian Club please see Mr. Basile, Ms. Gallo or Ms. Menery if you need extra help

Free Lunch-  please remember that the Free Lunch program is available for all students- please see your homeroom teacher for help on this- take advantage of this as it was provided by a Grant- you can grab the lunch on your way out for the day

Junior Class Student Council-  There will be a mandatory Junior Class Student Council meeting on Friday Dec 4th at 11am on Google meet- if you did not get an email with the link please email Ms.Menery

Social Distancing- please remember to keep your distance when walking down the halls- leaving classrooms and coming into or leaving the school-

NHS-
 We will be continuing with our NHS tutoring - We have been getting many requests- please continue to email your guidance counselor if you need to set up a zoom meet, or in person- or email Ryan Bergin- 
we have tutors available for ANY SUBJECT-
 NHS students please make sure you have started on your NHS tutoring- 

social distancing-  Please remember to social distance coming into school, leaving classrooms or exiting the school for the day-  We need to keep distance in the hallways and in the stairwells as well as the exiting of the doorways- thank you- it is important to keep each other safe!

Yearbook- Please purchase your yearbook online at Josten.com- for $70   Yearbooks will be going up in price after December 18th to $80
seniors- please hand in your Pet Photos to Sam Grouleau and your baby pictures to Mia Salah or Kennedy Rounds soon!!

THANKSGIVING BASKETS-  thank you so much as we have made a record this year-  71 baskets!!!!!!!!!!!  we provided 
71 local families with a Thanksgiving meal- thank you so much

Open Door:  so far we are at 35 Thanksgiving Baskets! Thank you to those of you who have contributed!  Every dollar counts as the Open Door has made over 800,000 since March-  Be proud GHS  :)

Please contribute to the food drive as well-  The drop off bins are  in the atrium-  we need canned tuna, juice boxes, Thanksgiving items,  as well as pasta, and cereal.   Thank you!

 Spirit Week-  Next week GHS will be celebrating a spirit week for all grades -  

please dress to celebrate GHS -   the theme days are:

Monday   Lumber vs Slumber,  

Tuesday - welcome to the jungle- animal and animal print  

 Wednesday- Senior Citizen day  

 Thursday. Class Color Day,  Seniors- red, Juniors were black,  Sophomores wear Blue and Freshmen can were green-  Staff can were crimson and crème   

 Friday is also College Sweatshirt Day or Casual Friday

Juniors-  there are still some Class Shirts available See Ms. Cullen or Ms. Menery the cost of the shirts is $5.00 

Free Lunch and Breakfast-  Since GHS received a Grant please take advantage of filling out in homeroom your lunch and breakfast- this is for ALL GHS students-  ask your homeroom teacher for info 

Tutoring-  PLEASE email Ryan Bergin or your guidance counselor if you would like to set up an NHS tutor- we can tutor  do this via Facebook or in person-   we have all subjects available and this can also be done in the evening-

News from the Health Center:

 

The Free Food Locker has moved into the Health Center - Rm 1214! This year ALL GHS students are eligible to bring food home to their families! Students can order in person Monday - Thursdays from 8.30-2.30. Students and parents can also order food online with the Free Food Locker Google Order Form - be on the lookout for the link in your emails this week. Also new this year - home delivery of Free Food Locker food is available.  Contact Karen in the Health Center - Rm 1214 for more information!

 

There is a new project by members of YAC and the Youth Peace Movement called 'Say My Name'

Say My Name is on the Bulletin Board across from the Health Center to discuss issues relating to Racial Equity. These students are posting throughout November on the Board and their Instagram a new photo and bio each day of a young person of color who was killed by hatred. Please stop by the Board to learn about their lives. 

 

The Youth Advisory Council meets on Mondays at 2.20 pm online. For questions or to get the link - please go to the Health Center in Rm 1214.

Italian Club- Please know there are Italian club tutors if you have Mr. Basile, Mrs. Gallo or Ms. Menery- please see Ms. Menery as she will help you to coordinate the tutor


NHS TUTORS-  are also available for any subject-  please see your guidance counselor or email Ryan Bergin so he can help coordinate -  tutoring can be done via facetime,  google meet or in person in room 1213-   tutors will help you organize your notebooks, help with homework  or help to study for a test or quiz-  THE NHS members need the hours for community service


Student Council-  ELECTIONS WILL BE NEXT WEEK IN HOMEROOMS ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY  please take the elections seriously and take the time to read the speeches thank you and thank you to the student council students who are running and helping with their class

Yearbook-  seniors please turn in your baby photos ASAP- put your name on the back and give your photos to Mia Salah or Kennedy Rounds

Food Drive-  The OPEN DOOR NEEDS OUR HELP! Please bring any non perishable items to the atrium-  we are in need of Thanksgiving items like stuffing and items such as peanut butter, cereal, juice boxes-  The Open Door has served over 800.000 meals to local families since March.  ANY CONTRIBUTION HELPS.   NHS have you brought your items in yet?


Thanksgiving Baskets-  we have now collected for 27 families-  thank you to those who have already contributed-  every dollar counts!  $30 feeds an entire local family a thanksgiving meal-  any contribution helps even just a dollar-  please drop off to room 1213 Ms. Menery's room

Food Drive-  The Open Door is in need of our help for our annual Food Drive- please bring any items to the Atrium as you will see the drop off boxes-  The items needed are especially Thanksgiving Items and items such as peanut butter - canned tuna-   juice boxes and cereal 

 Last year 8,287 people utilized the Open Door from the surrounding cities-  Since March the Open Door provided more than 817,725 meals

 We are also collecting for the Thanksgiving Baskets and as of today we are at 7 baskets-  The cost of the basket is $30 which provides a turkey and entire meal for a local family

  Yearbook-  All seniors must turn in baby photos  to Mia Salah or Kennedy Round- please put your name on the back-  please turn in photos by November 14th

  NHS tutoring- there is NHS tutoring offered daily- please email your guidance counselor

  Italian Club- There is also Italian Tutoring available please see Ms Gallo or Ms Menery to help you set up the tutoring hour

 Good Luck to the Varsity Field Hockey team today against Danvers

 Student Council- If you are running for an office please send your speeches in a google document to Ms Finacey or Ms Menery asap

***  The Free Food Locker is open in the GHS Health Center Mondays - Thursdays  8.30am -2.30pm.

All students are welcome to use the Free Food Locker. 

Students are invited to bring non-perishable food home for their families. You do not need a referral, just go

to the Health Center in Room 1214.

The Free Food Locker is here to provide families with supplemental food.   

Food can be ordered by visiting the Health Center or ordering online.

NHS TUTORING:
    Tutoring will be available next week in room 1213. More information will follow on Monday, or seek help from your guidance counselor.

NHS FOOD DRIVE:
    Bring in a non perishable for the Open Door, please bring them to the Library. Our Goal is 500 items by Thanksgiving-lets make that happen :) 
    The Open Door is also collecting donations for the Thanksgiving holiday baskets- each basket is $30.00 please see Ms. Menery -Sammataro to donate.

    If you cannot stay after school or you are in a different cohort please note we can organize evening google meets- to help study or halo with questions.
    NHS is starting the annual open door food drive and collections for the Thanksgiving baskets, one basket will feed an entire family for a Thanksgiving meal.     Last year we donated 40 baskets .Please help us reach this goal as Gloucester is depending on our donations.

Lunch at the Outside Common Area:  Please be advised as there are no trash cans outside, it is “Carry Out - Carry In” for your trash. As the weather gets nicer, we need to keep this area clean - Thank you for your help with this.


The GHS Health Center Free Food Locker is open today at both lunches in Room 1409. You also stop by the Health Center to pick up a bag of food before 2:30 pm. If you have any questions, please go to Room 1214.


Guidance:  There will be a workshop Monday, March 16th during homeroom in the school counseling conference room for seniors who would like some help applying for scholarships.
