City of Gloucester is looking for lifeguards-  contact human resources at jobs@gloucester.ma.gov
you must pasts the Red Cross certification and CPR and first aid certification


Student Council- please email Ms. Menery if you would like to run for executive Board- deadline is this Friday


NHS- there is a student organized GHS clean up for this Thursday after school at 2:15pm-4;15 pm.
it is not mandatory- but if you would like to come and help please email Ms. Menery-
you do not have to stay the whole time- please bring rakes and hedge cutters-


NHS- if any student is in need of a tutor please email your guidance counselor

Thursday- nhs students who would like to help - there will be a clean up of the GHS Campus-
please bring your rakes, and hedge clippers- this is not mandatory- but some students have decided to organize this- please email Ms. Menery if you can attend- it will be from 2:15- 4;15 but you can stop by and get an hour community service or 2 if you stay the whole time


Any student in need of an NHS tutor please email your guidance councilor to help organize this

May 20 and 21 the Play will be streamed at 7pm  and may 22 at 1 and 7 pm

Student Council- please email Ms. Menery if you are running for Executive Board for next year- we need to have  a president, VP , treasurer and secretary asap.

Student Council-  If any Junior would like to run for Executive Board please let Ms. Menery know

Open Door- Will be sponsoring the Empty Bowl on May 22nd 4-6 pm at Emerson Ave and it will be a Drive Through Event- If any NHS student would like to help with this event please email Hannah Morris at the Open Door-  there are also service hours available to help make posters for this event-

Seniors- Please put your destination picture on the 1st floor outside of Ms. Menery's room- 
she is decorating her door for May as Senior Farewell wall and would like to have you put your college and picture up- 

speaking of college destinations- tomorrow is college sweatshirt day- staff are encouraged to also wear your alma Mater attire

Congrats to the girl's softball team for their win- and the boys' baseball team for their win-

Freshmen Class- The class shirts are for sale- please see Ms. Finacey to purchase- hopefully next year we will be having a pep rally and you will want to have one for the pep rally- the shirts are $10

Class Dues- if anyone wants to pay their class dues- now is the time- please see your class advisor to do so
especially seniors- as you do not want any obligations-   if you have any books at home or under your bed- you want to make sure you return those as well -

Senior Spirit week is next week:   Monday May 10th is Tourist Day, Tuesday is Green and Roman God and Goddess day, Wednesday Out of this world, Thursday Career day, Friday College sweatshirt Day and then class color day is our last day of school on May 28th


The winner of the April  Door Contest- Is Mrs. Perry's door in room 2201-  please check out her beautiful door--  a little birdie told me she may have had some help from her neighbors across the hall and next store but the door looks great!!!!


The last door decorating contest is for the Month of May which will be judged again by the senior class again...  some ideas are  MAY 4th "may the force be with you"   Memorial day, Cinco de Mayo,  , Mother's day  or just celebrating the Seniors-  Good luck all and keep up the good work as it makes the hallways look great- and it is fun to do during homeroom-

NHS officers were elected for next year:  Sophia Costa is President,  Darcy Muller Vice President, Secretary Eliana Faria and Historian Thomas Elliot-  please join the remind that Sophia has started

Seniors on NHS do not forget today you will be going to the back of the cafeteria to the outdoor commons at 10:30 so we can do some deliveries...  we want to show our teachers some appreciation

We would like to give a shout out to MR JAMES COOK as today is Principal Appreciation Day!

Thank you to all of the staff and teachers and we will be doing some shout outs this week
one shout out would also be to the English Dept.- the seniors want to thank you for helping us on our College Essays-  Thank you to the English Dept.

TO ALL BILOGY STUDENTS:
MCAS Biology Exam Prep sessions begin this Thursday, April 29th.  Tuesday sessions are free and will help GHS Biology students pass  Exam. There will be five Thursday sessions and then Tuesday Sixth session will be on Wednesday, June 2nd. Bio MCAS is scheduled for June 3rd and 4th. Please see any Biology teacher or Ms. Cafasso if you have any questions.

SENIORS:
Please continue to pay your senior obligations.

SENIORS: 

Attention seniors: this Friday at 1:00 pm there will be a senior photo all together in the football field. Please be on time.

 

Junior Class-  Your cookie dough should be in on April 1st please check the google classroom so you can take your orders home for Easter- we would like some help too if anyone can help once the orders come in- We also have a few extras if anyone would like to purchase 

 

Door Decorating Contest Winners- congrats to Mrs. Sargeant and Mr. Coleman for Decorating your door with "Gems of  Women in Science"  and the other winner is to Ms. Bean for her thoughtful door

The candy will be delivered to you today-  The next Door decorating Contest starts for the month of April ideas are:  April's Fool's Day, Easter, Spring has spring, Earth Day, Baseball Season Starts, National Sibling Day, Arbor Day, National Poetry Month,  

 

NHS please know you have until April 15th to hand in your sheets- You must hand in your paper sheet rather than just posting online as we need to have all of your signatures and to file the paper work

  

Attention Seniors; 

Please check two lists outside Mr. DiPietro's room (Room 3215) for two important things. 

1.  Seniors Sweatshirts:  Cost is $35 and is only payable in cash.  Please check to see that your name is spelled correctly and indicate your size.  Once you do both, you may pay Mr. DiPietro. 

2.  Class Dues:  This is mandatory for all Seniors.  The total cost of dues is $100.  You may pay your dues by cash or check.  If paying by check, please make the check payable to Gloucester Public Schools.  On the memo line, please indicate Class of 2021.  Please give your money directly to Mr. DiPietro.  This will be an obligation if you do not pay it before you graduate. 

If you have any questions, please see Mr. DiPietro.  He will gladly speak with you.

GHS GARDEN:

GHS has a gorgeous garden out back by the green house . If you are interested in gardening or have any questions, see Ms. King in room 2403 or Mrs. Rex in room 2413. We will hold a meeting on Monday April 5th @ 2:15 in Room 2403, then out to the Garden J

From Guidance:
Seniors the Raymond R. Anderton Scholarship is available in the Guidance Office. The deadline for submitting is May 14th.

DECA:
Congratulations to Eliana Faria for qualifying for the International DECA competition in Financial Consulting 2nd year in a row. Congrats to Ryan Bergin for achieving 6th place in Hospitality Sales

Football boosters
All football players please return your sold raffle tickets to Mrs. Ulrich in the nurses office as soo as possible.

Homecoming-
We will be having a homecoming election for a senior king and queen stay tuned as elections will be during homeroom

Class of 2022 student council
Thank you so much for selling cookie dough, as you made a lot of dough -:)  orders should be in by April 20th.

Door decorating
The contest will be judged this week by the Sophomore class since we have had requests we will have 1st and 2nd place as some have not done both sides

NHS :

Health Center:
The Youth Advisory Council: YAC will be meeting after school today at 2:20. If you need the link, please reach out to Karen in the Health Center. All students are welcome!

The Open Door Food Pantry:
Is Offering free Shaw's or Market Basket grocery gift card for any student or family that uses the Free Food Locker and mentions FFL when visiting the Open Door for curbside pick up or meals. Please visit the Health Center for more details.

 Freshmen class will be selling St Patrick Day goodies during homeroom- please order one from the freshmen class student council


Junior Class-  The Junior Class Student Council is selling Cookie dough- Student Council members please collect all of your money and try to reach your goal by next week as we will be sending in the order on March 11

NHS applications are due soon- please have your forms finished and turned in by the deadline to Ms. Cafasso- please help by turning your applications in early

Current NHS members- please see the NHS google classroom for some ideas for more community service hours- there will also be a survey to please fill out so we can give a report of our hours during the induction on March 25th-  all NHS members must be in attendance

Door decorations- contest is underway don't forget to decorate both sides or you will only get one prize-  

NHS tutoring today in room 1213 for Italian and any subject- please come by if you need help to study, organize, or go over homework- the NHS students really need to finish their hours.

seniors-  today is the last day to order a cap and gown !! 

 

Door decorating -  March is on- please decorate your doors for the theme of march- some ideas: st patrick's day- march madness- women's history month-  first day of spring-the ides of March- 

March 8th International women's day-  Daylight savings day-   spring equinox - Passover 

the doors will be judged at the end of March by the Sophomore Student Council 

NHS applicants- If you have a received an NHS application please know you must hand in the applications by Wednesday March 8th- please know you can hand them in before the due date-

these students need tutoring hours as we are approaching the due date for the hours so please if you need to stay - come to room 1213 as there will be tutors there for you    

The Gloucester Biotech is now accepting applications for the class of 2022. Earn a certificate as a biotechnology technician in 9 months.

The first 6 months are lab based hands on instruction with high teacher to student ratios for personalized instruction. SAGA:  Sexuality and Gender Acceptance has joined with Nagly (North Shore Alliance for Gay and Lesbian Youth) and will start in person meetings every Wednesday at 3 starting next week on March 10th at the YOUinty Drop in Center at 6 Elm Street in downtown Gloucester. The Gloucester High School Class of 2023 student council is starting a fundraiser partnered with Angel Bin. If anyone has gently used shoes please drop them off at either room 2303  or room 3220.iberostar  

Hats for the homeless: help out our local homeless shelter by bringing any gently used hats, scarfs, gloves , socks or money donations to the Atrium or to Olivia Hogan –Lopez.

From the Art Classes- Please check out the 1st floor exhibitions from Mrs. Cerrutti's first semester classes-  The students worked hard on these paintings and it makes our hallway look so nice- thank you to Mrs. Cerrutti and her classes


NHS- This is a very important notice for JUNIORS or SENIORS who may be eligible for applying to NHS this year- There will be emails sent this week to any student who qualifies- PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS- the application will be in the email- if you need a printed copy please see Ms. Menery or Ms. Cafasso-  The applications will be due on March 8th at 2pm to Ms. Cafasso no exceptions-  

NHS members please know that the hours are due soon as you have had almost a year to fulfill your requirements- do not forget the Free Locker is now a substitute for you Open Door hours-  Please email Ryan B if you are available to tutor this week or next week

Door Decorating- Tomorrow the February contest ends- many of you have decorated so please make sure your doors are open tomorrow during F block for the Junior Student Council kids to judge-  The March Contest starts on Thursday-
